The Idea Train

I hate when this happens.

I’m working on a project, a perfectly good, inspiring, fun project and some random idea comes to insinuate itself into my brain. I know it has to go on the backburner. I have at least managed to train myself not to take on 60 projects at once, but still it nags at me, always there trying to tempt me away from the project I’m working on. I’m plowing through Every Witch Way and this alternate universe idea hits me. And the hero is hot. Not that I ever write a hero that isn’t, but this one is the big quiet type. Mmmm-hmmm.

Enough of that. I have discovered (thanks to a pic on Gena Showalter’s site) a new cache of awesome pictures. Today I’ll showcase a spoof on Precious Moments, those cutesy kiddie cartoons. These are called Semi-Precious Moments. Had to show you, couldn’t resist.

Hump Day Hotties and Shadows

As with every Wednesday, we have a special blog edition. I’m over at Shadows of Passion talking about picking up a project that you left to mold for far too long. Dusting off the cobwebs can be a painful process.

As for Hump Day Hotties, I’m doing a two-part special edition on my favorite actors. Today will be the hotties who have acting talent and next week will be the Dumb But Cute edition.

First up is Hugh Dancy. He was an iffy on this list. He’s cute, has acting ability, but is extremely unfortunate in his project decisions. So, that almost put him in the dumb category, but he made it over here just for being willing to take a risk.

Next is George Clooney. ‘Nuff said.

He’s yummy, accomplished, talented and has enough moxy to pull off the crazy ass politically motivated indy stuff he’s being doing lately. Hats off, George.

Brad Pitt. Ah, Brad. It really depends which Brad you’re getting on whether he’s in the good actor or Dumb But Pretty category. Ocean’s Eleven is the one that clinched him a spot on this coveted list. One of my fave movies of all time and he was brilliant in it.

I had to add Matt Damon. He’s not the hottest of actors, but he does qualify as talented and pretty. Matt’s here by the skin of his Ocean’s Eleven/Dogma/Bourne movie teeth.

Last up is Clive Owen. He’s hot, willing to take some risk, and manages to pull it off. He’s also an amazing, sexy villain in the first Bourne movie.

Holy Geesh!

So.

I’m reading over Every Witch Way last night (before my first round of edits came in for Revenant–squee!) and I spent the whole time going Holy Geesh! What was I thinking?

This is going to take a lot of work to fix. I knew I was going to have to overhaul, but I had no idea I was going to have to completely re-write it.

On the one hand this is a good thing because it’s proof positive that my writing has improved in the past year and a half (which is roughly how long I’ve been writing creatively–grad school will suck that out of you). Every Witch Way was the first book I ever seriously tried to write.

My real first go was a horrific fantasy romance that will never ever ever see the light of day. I may have to burn what I wrote just so there’s no evidence that it existed at all.

I am enjoying going over Every Witch Way. I really do love these characters and would like to finally finish this book, if for no other reason than that these characters have been nagging me to finish since I set them aside last January to focus on naughtier books.

Hey, naughty works for me.

Novelty Girls Day and picking up where I left off

I finished. I finished. I fiiiiiinished!

I posted a bit more about this over at The Novelty Girls, but I finished my Valentine’s Day vampire story Big Girls Don’t Die.

Yay me! Woot woot!

Sorry, I’m still a bit punchy because my bum has been stuck in this chair for two days straight and it’s kind gone numb. Like, past the point of tingling and all the way to Is It Still There? Which is not doubt far more than you ever wanted to know or hear or think about my backside, so let’s move on.

I do have a big announcement to make. Okay, so not earth-shattering huge, but it’s big to me. Since I’m ahead of schedule on deadlines (for the moment) I’ve decided to resurrect a story that I set aside earlier this year.

The working title is Every Witch Way and I’m going to need to completely overhaul it, but it’s sitting at 60K. I like to think that my writing has improved, gotten stronger, since I last opened this book so maybe I can figure out what went wrong and try to make it work. If not, I can have bunches of fun banging my head against the brick wall until I’m back on deadline at the first of the year.

Wish me luck!

Pimping my girls!

I have three books to tell you about today. Two are holiday releases, and the last is a sexy little paranormal book. These books are awesome, sweet and hot. Check them out!

Blurb:

Lola Beckham is a hard working single mother, caring for her deaf son. Her ex-husband left her early in their marriage out of youthful ignorance and an inability to cope with a child with a handicap. She has managed, and over time, Bennie has regained a relationship with his father and his current wife and children. Lola is glad for the family Bennie has and is thankful that Rick has matured enough to share his twin daughters and life with his son. She only wonders when she’ll be able to stop living as a statistic and find a man who can accept her and the responsibility of her life and son.

Blurb:

It’s just before Christmas and Lilly Rawson is trying to escape her old life, taking her young son with her. When a blizzard hits, she gets in a serious car wreck and wakes to find herself in the arms of an attractive man. Blurb:

Gavin Mackenzie is a best selling horror author and amateur ghost hunter. His plans to investigate paranormal activity at a local mansion are denied by the sexy new owner; even as she makes it clear she’d welcome him in her bed.

Taylor Ammons is using the mansion for her new business: holding educational sexual retreats for women. She’s not prepared for her attraction to her quiet neighbor, or his determination to convince her that the mansion is haunted.

Then strange things start happening, and Taylor has to bring Gavin in for some exploring that goes beyond the bedroom.

Second, my girl Jennifer McKenzie has her first book Yule “Tied” coming out from The Wild Rose Press today.

Here’s the Blurb:
