My First Video Blog
Friday, December 5th, 2008

Behold, my first video blog. And a contest! I’ll draw winners on Monday, December 8th.

P.S. I swear I’m normally not this scattered, but I did this first thing in the morning before my hair was even dry and before I’d had my caffeine. Enjoy!

P.S.S. However, I am normally that pale. I blame it on the fact that I’m part British. It’s totally my father’s fault I’m a lighter shade of pasty.

Are All Paranormal Covers Created Equal?
Thursday, December 4th, 2008

I’m not sure if they are, but there are a lot of them that seem to be darn similar. In a fit of wonderfulness, SciFiGuy has dutifully created a video to document the cover similarities over the last few years with paranormal romance and/or urban fantasy/fantasy with female protagonists.

Women with tattoos on their back. With a moon. And possibly cool weapons, seem to be the order of the day to shriek “Here, There Be Paranormal Romance.”

His claim is that they all began with Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel series (which y’all should read, by the way).

Check out his video. I thought it was funny as all get out.

A New One!

“One is fun, two is company, three is not always a crowd, but four is more, and more, and more! The idea for Gamble’s Game came to me one day while I ate my lunch in a local grocery store. Inspired by my surroundings, I saw erotic potential in a stereotypically sterile environment (excluding the produce aisle, of course). ” ~Tara ~

Sensuality Rating: SCORCHING
Genre: Contemporary Erotic Romance with elements of Ménage a Trois M/F/M and Ménage a Quatre M/F/M/F
Length: 33,814 Words

A notorious player, Desiree Jones resists all attempts to trap her in a relationship. According to her, it’s what made her parents miserable, and therefore, it is what would make her miserable.

Once a lover of Desiree’s, Andrew Gamble doesn’t agree and it is his hope to be the one who makes her see reason. Smitten from the first kiss, Gamble has not touched another woman since, so a bet to go without sounds more like an opportunity to seduce her to him.

Desiree’s other competition is Joshua Tully, perpetually single and harmless, until the temptation of two week’s wages are up for grabs. After that, it is open season, and the three of them do what ever it takes to push their pals over the sexual finish line. A parade of firemen visit Desiree’s cash counter, a pretendsbian tryst is performed for Gamble, and a date is arranged for Tully.

Characters
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

So, I’m hip deep in writing my next Kensington book. This on is post apocalyptic with shape shifters. Now, I don’t usually have a firm idea in my head about what my characters look like other than basic hair/skin/eyes colors. Occasionally, one of my characters will line his or herself up with an actor, model, athlete, or movie character in my head, but not usually.

This time, both of the main female characters have decided to do so. One is a bit more bad ass than the other, but they’re both pretty awesome women. For some reason, they’re liking female characters in the Matrix movies.

The younger character is tall, thin and will kick your ass in a hot second. She likes Trinity.

However, she’s a blonde like one of the models in this season of America’s Next Top Model.

The other female isn’t quite as bad ass, but she’s just as ruthless. She’ll beat you with her mind rather than her claws and make you think it was your idea. Very wily, this one. She liked Persephone, the wife of The Merovingian from The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.
