The Scroll Thief

Love is the wiliest thief of all.

A Tale of Ithian

Malachy and his sister rely on his talents as a thief to survive the dangerous streets of Klathport, former capital of the once-great kingdom of Ithian. Stealing a few papers should have been a simple job. Instead, it nearly costs their lives and throws them into an improbable alliance with a shape-shifting official, a desert tribeswoman, and a healer of enchanting beauty.

Cerys is far more than a simple healer—and the roots of her mission go deeper into the past than anyone can know. She needs Malachy’s skills to recover a stolen scroll, one that can be used to rewrite history and, in the wrong hands, release the dark powers of the Demon Realm.

Her mission was supposed to atone for a dreadful, long-ago act. Instead, it unleashes a chain of events which sees them pursued through city and desert by the fearsome Dune Witch and a killer known only as His Lordship. Romance, tragedy, and adventure blend in a tale of a magical land on the brink of war, and five unlikely allies who, by putting their lives—and their hearts—on the line, have the opportunity to finally set things right.

But at a terrible cost.

New Excerpts

I posted new excerpts for my not-yet-released books on my Coming Soon pages.

I have one for my May 2009 story It’s Raining Men, which is the third story for the In the Heat of the Night series.

And in awesome news, I just found out that I sold the fourth story for my In the Heat of the Night series, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, so I posted an excerpt of that, too, for your viewing pleasure.

Then there’s the holiday novella from Kensington that releases in September 2009 called Naughty or Nice, which will be in Under the Covers anthology.

And, finally, a little taste of my November 2009 post-Apocalyptic shifter release, Untamed (which just went up for pre-sale on Amazon).

Check them out!

WILD

Marra’s body burned with desire. It was Wild time, the first week of spring, when Lynx from all over North America gathered in the Sierra Nevada foothills to mate. The time when every Lynx female went into heat.

But Wild is bittersweet for Marra. She’s past the age when most Lynx find their mate. She only comes to Wild for sex and always leaves as she came: alone.

Yet this year is different. A new male Lynx has come to Wild, a foreigner who will claim her in ways she only imagined…

Sunday Funnies

You Are Doted On

You are sweet, sensitive, and a bit anxious. You are likely to have some health problems.

It’s likely that you will have four or more children… whether you use birth control or not!

You find yourself overjoyed, and you love to laugh. It’s easy to make you smile.

You are very detail oriented and tidy. Some may even call you obsessive.

You are quite conservative. You are neither a flirter or a flaunter.

If You’re Not Watching Leverage…

I absolutely love the show Leverage. If you guys aren’t watching it, you really should be. The Mad Madam M and I both love it. Because we’re both mad clickers of DOOM on YouTube (and because we both drool over Christian Kane–who plays Spencer Eliot), I plucked out a few choice clips for why this show is the awesome sauce. The season finale is next week, so I’m going into premature mourning.

Things I learned from Leverage (which may be mostly Christian Kane, see previous parenthetical comment):

How to get two heterosexual men into see a patient illegally. Lie. And Flirt.

How to kill a man with a knife…and then make hors d’oeuvres.

How to…maybe…kill a man with an appetizer.

The value of a baseball card.

And how to find your fighting niche.

Hunger Pangs

I posted last month about how I was going to get healthy and joined Weight Watchers. Realizing I haven’t updated everyone on how it’s going, I thought today’s post should be about that.

Frankly, it’s going pretty well considering I’ve never done anything like this before. I’m down exactly 12 pounds as of Monday morning. When you’re as big as I am, that doesn’t mean much, but it’s a start! So, all in all, I can’t complain.

The funniest thing was, I was going to have a little splurge night to celebrate my success, and I went scrounging around my kitchen for something…and realized I’d cleaned all that stuff out of my house so I couldn’t cheat a month ago. Thwarted by my own forethought! I’ll just take myself out to lunch later this week–there’s this place with awesome soups and salads that I just love. Yum!
