Headed home today! Here’s a quiz to keep you company while I’m out of touch!
Your Orchids Say You’re Very Elegant
You are exotic and intricately beautiful.
You possess a unique grace that’s both delicate and strong.
You are thoughtful and refined. You are the definition of class.
Some people may find you unapproachable, but it’s only their lack of confidence speaking.
So, today is the scariest day of conference. More intimidating that even the literacy signing with all those famous authors and throngs of people milling around. Why, you ask?
Today I’m presenting for the first time at RWA. Thankfully, it’s a panel of us, so I’m not all by myself. If you’re reading this int he morning and you’re at the conference, feel free to stop by. Here’s the info:
Title: I Sold to New York…Now What?
Speakers: Lilli Fiesty, Melissa Francis, Maria Geraci, Lynn Raye Harris, Crystal Jordan, and Kate Pearce
Summary: Selling to New York can be both exciting and terrifying. Five authors discuss their experiences in that all-important first year after The Call.
This morning should be pretty quiet, but come lunchtime, my day is going to become a race against the clock before bedtime.
I’m having the lunchies with Agent Awesome Sauce. Here’s us from last year. Awww!
Then the craziness starts and I have to run to a bazillion parties and award ceremonies. I’m a finalist in several contests this year (yay!) so I’m doing my best to make it to everything!
First, I have to go to the Passionate Ink party, where Treasured is up for an award.
Then, after a quick stop off at the Kensington publisher party, I have to trot on over to the FF&P’s chapter party where Carnal Desires is up for the Erotic Category award.
Somewhere in there–since they all overlap–I’m going to try to squeeze in a few minutes at the National Readers Choice Award because In Ice was nominated in their Novella category.
After that, I shall collapse in bed and expire from exhaustion. My feet hurt just thinking about it!
Tonight is the big, huge literacy signing that RWA puts on every year. I’ll be signing for the first time, which doesn’t make me nervous at all. Nope, cool as a cucumber.
Don’t I look cool?
Okay, never mind…I’m not cool, but if you want to stop by and keep me company anyway…or even want to buy a book for a good cause, I’ll be signing Carnal Desires. Anyone can come to the event, so even if you’re not at the conference, this is open to the public…if you live nearby and love romance novels, stop in!

After surviving my long flight and various bumps and hiccups that go with every trip, I’m spending today hanging out with two other writers. DC local Amanda Brice is going to escort Loribelle Hunt and I around to some touristing highlights.
Of course, the White House.
The history geek in me would not be the history geek in me if I didn’t swing by the Lincoln Memorial.
And I’m definitely going to peek inside the Smithsonian. So many exhibits, so little time!
Finally, we have to stop by The Wall. Lori’s dad and my grandpa both served in Vietnam, so we must pay respects to those who didn’t make it home the way our family members did.
I’m off to the wilds of the Romance Writers of America National Conference. It’s the one time every year where I rub elbows with other authorly types and industry folks.
But, first, a loooong drive out to the airport and then an even longer flight and a cab ride separate me from my destination location. For now it’s just me, my little iPod Green, and a whole lot of travel.
So, you can’t go to the RWA conference this year? Well, don’t fret for long. Romance Divas is hosting their annual NGTCC (Not Going To Conference Conference) and it’s going to be fun-filled. Already they’ve got great guest spots lined up, including: Josh Lanyon, Rowan Mcbride, Jet Mykles and Shayla Kersten, Carrie Jones, Marley Gibson, Linnea Sinclair, Patti O’Shea, Ona Russel, Steve Hockingsmith, Joey W. Hill and Sasha White.
There will be workshops for just about every genre, from Young Adult to Erotic to Historical. Plus, a workshop on Deep POV, one on going from e-publishing to NY, and a Q&A on how avoid and deal with burnout. And there’s bound to be a few surprises, too.
The NGTCC kicks off July 14th and runs until July 18th. If you’re not already a member of Romance Divas, all you have to do is go to the website and register! Best of all–it’s FREE!
My editor emailed to let me know that my May Kensington Aphrodisia, On the Prowl, just went back to press for a second print run. It’s been “out of stock” on Amazon and B&N.com for a couple of weeks now, but the second print run should be shipping by the 15th.
So…yay! This is just the kind of news I want right before RWA.
