Look what she sent me. Sicko.

Halfway House
Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

So, I’m officially past the halfway mark for my Month of No Writing. It’s going pretty well, if I do say so myself. I’ve done some remodeling on my place, cleaned some, shopped some, relaxed some, worked out some, watched some TV, read some, visited some friends.

You know, I’ve done some stuff.

I haven’t done any writing though, so I’m pretty proud of myself. I’ve gotten a few new ideas for stories, and I’m letting those percolate. I’ve done a little bit of plotting on the projects I need to work on after my month of vacation, but not as much as I thought I would.

Oh, well. I’m on vacation.

Love might need a little push…or a good, swift kick.

Tori Chambers. Old biddy, gossip, busybody and meddler. Except in reality she’s none of those things—she’s a guardian angel who specializes in helping people find their soul mates. Her latest assignment has had her tearing her hair out for over a year. She’s holding up her end for the fireman who’s her current client, but his soul mate’s guardian angel is dropping the ball big time. And when a replacement steps in, it’s enough to curl what’s left of Tori’s hair.

Jericho. The one man who broke her heart—and made her determined to never fail her clients like her own guardian angel failed her.

A hundred years ago, while fighting for Texas independence, Jericho made a mistake that accidentally cost her life. Now that she’s forced to make nice and work with him, he’s determined not to lose her again. Even if he has to tie her to the bed and make love to her until she’s willing to see reason.

Because unknown to Tori, she is his assignment. And if he can’t find a way to convince her they’re soul mates, they face an eternity of consequences…

Or, I guess, “we placed, we placed!” would be more accurate. Anne Cain made me a fabulous cover for It’s Raining Men, which I entered in the Houston RWA “Judge a Book By It’s Cover” Contest and we placed third in the sexiest cover category. The only ebook cover, too.

Here’s the rankings.

Happy Valentine's Day

Your Valentine’s Day Personality is Friendly

You think of Valentine’s Day as the perfect chance to show people you care.
It’s not exclusively a romantic holiday for you. You like to celebrate with your friends too.

Valentine’s Day makes you nostalgic for cute cards and cheap candies.
You love the idea of a Valentine’s Day where everyone feels included.

Yep, Valentine's is Coming

Your Candy Heart Says “Get Real”

You’re a bit of a cynic when it comes to love.
You don’t lose your head, and hardly anyone penetrates your heart.

Your ideal Valentine’s Day date: is all about the person you’re seeing (with no mentions of v-day!)

Your flirting style: honest and even slightly sarcastic

What turns you off: romantic expectations and “greeting card” holidays

Why you’re hot: you don’t just play hard to get – you are hard to get

It's starting today!

Ah, yeah, baby! My favorite time of the decade. Olympics time. The opening games are today for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. This is the one time I watch more TV than the Mad Madam M, for which she gets obscene amounts of delight and joy. Summer Olympics, Winter Olympics, I don’t care. I’ll sit through hours of badminton and curling, just because it’s the Olympics. I’m glued to the television for two whole weeks, and I constantly check the medal counts online from work.

Check out the widget below…it’ll track the medals. I’m putting a little one in the sidebar of my blog just so it’s easy to look up. Woot!

Twice as Hot by Gena Showalter

I love Gena’s work. Heck, I love Gena, period. I got an advanced copy of this book (cuz I begged a little) because I loved the first one, Playing with Fire, so much. It’s been burning a hole in my to be read pile since the mailman delivered it, but now that I’m on vacation I can sit down and read it.

Woot!

Steamed by Katie MacAlister

It’s steampunk. It’s romance. I’m there.

Midnight Rainbow/ Diamond Bay by Linda Howard

I read Midnight Rainbow in the library, and my girl Kate Pearce told me the rest of the Kell Sabin series is pretty good, so I’m all over it.

Heartbreaker/ White Lies by Linda Howard

Hey, Kate said the whole series, so…I’m in. Plus, it’s Linda Howard. I love just about everything she writes, and since these came out right around the same time as my fave Linda Howard of all time–MacKenzie’s Mountain–I’m hoping the awesomeness rubbed off.

Gym!
Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

So, I haven’t updated on the great weight loss progress in a while, mostly because I’ve had no news. I totally plateaued about halfway, which is at 50lbs. Sure, that’s an awesome amount, but it’s still only halfway to what I need to be.

Therefore, it’s time to add something more onto the routine than just eating better. That means…dum, dum, dum…going to the gym 5 days a week. I don’t wanna. I hate working out. I hate sweating. There is only one activity worth sweating for, and the treadmill ain’t it. I’ll let you use your imagination to fill in the rest of those blanks.

I went yesterday and today, did a half an hour on the treadmill and some light weightlifting, which I’ll increase as my strength does. Let’s face it, I’m down 50lbs, but I’m still way out of shape.

Ah, well. I knew this day of doom would come. I just wish it had waited a little longer to get here.

Look, Ma! I made pretties!

Okay, it’s super lame, but I’m the web manager over at the International Association for the Study of Popular Romance and I made a couple of new images for the conference we’re having in Belgium in August of this year. One is a small announcement over on the right with the Grand Palace at night, and the other is a preliminary ad for the conference with this nifty stamp on it. Basically, we got the images from istockphoto, but hey, I picked them out and did the pretty fonts and such, so I’m totally taking credit for them. Here’s the ad, just for a preview, but go check out the other one.
