And Class is in Session
Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Not so fun things to remember the first week of school at a university.

1) Freshman have no clue what’s going on, but they’re really, really excited.

2) There always seems to be a returning senior who felt the need to bathe in beer to kick off the school year. (And then ride in the close confines of an elevator with yours truly–not okay, dude!)

3) Freshman have no clue what’s going on, but they’re really, really, really excited.

4) If you’re not on campus by 8am, you can kiss any chance of finding a parking space good-bye.

5) Freshman have no clue what’s going on, but they’re really, really, really, really excited.

6) Everyone will stop and ask where to find the bathroom. These people are usually freshman.

You are very over the top and a bit overwhelming.
You have a fiery personality, and you can give anyone a good jolt.
You can easily take things up a couple notches, no matter what crowd you’re running with.

Scandalous by (my awesome friend) Karen Erickson

She always got anything she wanted…

Playing with Fire 3

A teenage crush on her big brother’s boyfriend. It was one of the few times in her spoiled-little-sister life that Alexa had to swallow the word “no”. She got over it, or she thought she had—until her brother’s wedding brings Eric back into her life, as flirty and fun as ever. It never mattered to her that he’s gay. Attraction is attraction.

One illicit kiss, and their reconnection blows her mind and rekindles girlish hopes. Then he sets her away from him and runs like hell.

Eric can’t believe that a woman’s touch arouses him. Not just any woman, but sweet Alexa, and he can’t help but want more. Desperate to come clean, he confesses all to his steady boyfriend, Brandon, expecting anger. But Brandon’s intrigued. He wants to meet the woman who’s tied Eric up in knots. With luck, maybe she’ll relight the spark between them.

Alexa may have lost her chance with Eric, but the consolation prize—a fling with him and Brandon, is too tempting to resist. She never expected to love both men, or to secretly yearn to belong to the one who commands her body like no other…

Warning: Contains m/m sex, m/f/m sex, three people confused and in love, a little bit of punishment, a lot of dirty talk and a lot of naughty sex.

The Between. A race of people between light and dark. Good and evil. Human and animal. The world discovered their existence over a decade ago, and so far the balance between humans and Between has been precarious at best. One bite is all it takes to cross the line from human to Between. It doesn’t matter what species of shapeshifter bites a human–only the soul can dictate what kind of animal is most suited to a Between. Many humans think they’re dangerous and should be locked away, while others covet their power.

On a fateful camping trip, fiery Oregon beauty Rhiannon Reid is kidnapped and turned into a “Between”–a magical shape-shifting creature. Now forced to prove her worthiness to the group’s golden king, lion-shifting Elan Delacourt, the two test each other’s strength and character–but lose themselves in the hot-blooded battle…

Barnes & Noble is shipping it, though it doesn’t officially release until the end of the month. Get it now!

I brought pie…
Monday, August 23rd, 2010

My fellow librarian, Dr. Revolution, had a housewarming party over the weekend, and I got to see the Prairie Debutante and her man, plus another manbrarian co-worker who I haven’t yet given a code name to. It was nice seeing them outside of work and relaxed (with the help of some alcohol, natch).

I brought pie. Chocolate silk, to be precise. And who doesn’t love chocolate? It’s like it’s own food group. That’ll warm up any house warming, don’t you think? She and her hubby have such a cute little place, with tons of books, of course. Hey, it’s the librarian code or something to have a houseful of them!

In the end…there were good times and a sugar rush to be had by all.

You Are a Salty Person

When it comes to snacks, you’re more likely to grab a bag of chips over a bag of cookies.

There’s a good chance you’re male (men prefer salty snacks)…
Or at least, you feel very comfortable in male dominated environments.

Your taste tends to be complex, sophisticated, and adult.
You tend to crave your favorite restaurant meal… or mom’s cooking.

My chair!
Friday, August 20th, 2010

It’s supposed to be delivered soon! The final piece in my furniture shopping expedition. The factory had to make it special for me, so I can’t wait for it to get here and finish off the look of the house.

See…here’s the chair design:

And here’s the fabric (because the one they had it in was just fug):

I think Professor Moriarty doesn’t like the fabric I chose. He’s into neutrals, so he loves my big beige couch. I think he’s gonna wince when he sees the chair up close and in person. Ah, well!

New Titles and New Excerpts!
Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

My book formerly titled “Every Witch Way” has received its official title and release date. Yay! It’s going to be called EMBRACE THE NIGHT and will come out on June 1, 2011.

I also have an excerpt up for you, if you’d like to read it.

Here’s what the book is about:

Witch Chloe Standish is a biochemist working on a cure for werewolves when her research partner and ex-boyfriend Damien ends up murdered. And she’s the only suspect. She’s brought in for questioning only to find the detective working on the case is the warlock she spent a wild night with after Damien dumped her for a vampire. As if her day couldn’t get much worse, she finds that her other research partner sold out their work to terrorists who want to overthrow the werewolf pack leaders. They killed Damien for his part of the formula, and now only thing that’s missing is Chloe’s work.

The last thing Detective Merek Kingston needs is to feed the obsession he’s had for the witch who disappeared from his bed after the best sex of his life. She’s the one thing he didn’t see coming. And that’s the worst part–his ability to see the future is dormant where Chloe’s concerned. Only the most important people in his life let his gift rest, and he’s lost every single one of them. He doesn’t want to deal with the possibility of losing someone else he’s come to love, but if he doesn’t protect Chloe, he might lose her anyway. The consummate cop can’t let an innocent woman die, regardless of the cost to himself. Even if it means dragging the city girl out of Seattle and locking himself in a room with her to guard her day and night, he’s not going let terrorists take what’s his.
