Nightshift . . . and knitting!

NIGHTSHIFT is out today, woohoo!

The official blurb for my novella “Taken Between” is really short, so here’s my unofficial (but more descriptive) one:

Max Delacourt is many things–a Between, a red wolf, a former soldier, an expert in security, and a prince. His father was the royal bastard who revealed their race to humanity and put them all in danger. His older brother Elan has been scrambling to preserve the simple human rights of their people ever since. As soon as his brother assumed the throne, Max knew what he had to do–he resigned his commission in the Marines and became the head of the King’s Guard. Elan might be working to protect the Between, but someone has to protect the king from those humans who’d like nothing more than to see their race thrown into chaos with no leader. No one would ensure Elan’s safety like Max would, so he left the military without a backward glance.

There’s nothing about his brother that Max envies, except the love of Kira Seaton. Like Max, Kira left her position with the Los Angeles Police Department to join the King’s Guard as second in command. She’s known both brothers since they were children on the Between island kingdom of San Amaro. Then, she’d been a servant’s daughter with a burning desire to prove herself. She’d been determined to keep up with both the older boys no matter what.

Years with the LAPD gave her a place where her natural curiosity and tenacity as a fox-shifter was valued, but it was never where she belonged. Elan becoming king meant he’d need help from those loyal to him, and it seemed as good a time as any to return home–this time in a position of influence that meant she had nothing left to prove to anyone.

Despite what Max thinks, she’s most definitely not in love with Elan Delacourt. No, she has the grave misfortune of loving the younger Delacourt brother. Half the time, she’s not certain if she wants to punch Max or kiss him.

Further Adventures in Knitting
Monday, November 7th, 2011

Again, my apologies for all lack of make up in these photos, but I sincerely doubted the Prof. Moriarty was going to be willing to model these for me. Thus, you get pasty me as your knitterific model with my patented iPhone-held-over-my-head angle.

The new skill I’ve mastered since my last post is making hats. I even made one last night for a friend who’s about to have a baby. She love, love, loved it. Unfortunately, my head is too big to model it, and her munchkin isn’t born yet. So, no picture, but it came out really cute, if I do say so myself.

First up is a hat/neck warmer combo I made for my best friend, complete with matching buttons. I think it turned out pretty well.

Next is a rolled brim hat and matching neck warmer with a big coconut wood button. This one is going to an organization I donate to that provides hats for cancer patients. I don’t think they’ll mind that it comes with a scarf, do you? The weather’s turning chilly, after all.

Then I did a little jaunt into making full-length scarves to go with a chunkier yarn hat. I also made a long scarf for the professor in a lovely shade of blue and normal sized yarn, but he stole it and took it home with him before I snapped a pic. Hey, he was sick and it made him feel better. How could I deny him?

And here’s a pink-and-purple chunky hat and neck warmer combo. This one came out really well, I thought. You can be envious all you want, but it’s also going to my best friend.

All Revved Up is out today!
Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

My new book, ALL REVVED UP, came out today from Ellora’s Cave. I’m super excited about this new series, and I can’t wait for you guys to read this book and the sequels!

Here’s the info…

There’s nothing Andi Manning doesn’t know about cars. Working at Kasen’s Kustom Automotive is a dream job, and it’s even more fun now that they’ve turned the garage into Revved Up, a reality television show for overhauling classic cars. Watching drop-dead gorgeous Dean Kasen work his magic on those sweet rides is no hardship, either. She’s lusted after him, but never had the courage to act on her scorching hot fantasies.

The network offers Dean the chance for the local show to go national as long as a sexy bombshell helps host it. Andi is perfect for the role—if she’s willing to discard her coveralls and bend over engines in tight shorts, tank top and heels. Now that she’s gone from cute coworker to sexpot, Dean can’t keep his hands off of her. But Dean feels guilty for sleeping with an employee and Andi has to wonder…the only time they spend together is for sex, so is it her he wants, or just the revved up goddess of the show?
