At the con, we’re getting crazy people in costume, nifty free swag, movie premiers and TV show pilots, panels featuring actors from our favorite shows (i.e. Jensen, Jared, Nathan…yummy…)

Even better, Professor Moriarty is going to be around and he’ll take us out on the town. He’s trotting us out for coffee (tea for me, I’m half-English, you know) and dessert (yummy…) at a place that calls itself extraordinary. Professor Moriarty claims it’s not false advertising. We shall see, won’t we?

The Mad Madam M and I are heading down to San Diego for Comic-Con. It’s going to be omg levels of awesomenisity. Really. San Diego better lock its doors at night or something. Maybe M and I need a police escort to be allowed down there.

On the agenda:

1) Stalk Nathan Fillion.

2) Rampage on yummy restaurants.

3) Stalk Jensen Ackles.

4) Sneak into the backstage-pass-only areas.

5) Stalk Jared Padelecki.

6) Possibly start a squeeing fangirl riot when we spot one or more of these three guys.

I know…you’re all jealous. As you should be!

Even better than that? She’s helping me put some of the finishing touches on my apartment remodel. It might be done some time this century. Who knew?

Even better than that? We’re taking a road trip down to a fun little convention in San Diego this week. If you don’t know which crazy famous con I’m talking about…well, you just might not be nerdy enough for this blog. Otherwise, you can come back tomorrow for more details. Hee!

M and I are in a deeply committed relationship. With other people.

I know! I can hear your collective gasps of horror and the deluge of questions. What does this mean? How can Crys and M be no longer single? What will happen to their heterosexual life partnership? Isn’t this the second sign of the apocalypse? Should I be worried about zombies taking over? Where’s my tinfoil hat??

It’s crazy, really, but M and I thought we should come clean, and drag the mancakes out for a showing. Okay, not a showing. No pictures. We have to protect their innocence. Or…something.

Anyway, without further ado, but with much bartering on appropriate codenames, I give you Geek Squad and Professor Moriarty! Geek Squad managed to snag the Mad Madam M earlier this year with his mad gadget skillz and stuff. Between the two of them, they have at least five computers in their house. Also, I’ve heard their entertainment center could give a Best Buy store a run for its money. I want to play the Wii when I go see them for Thanksgiving.

Then we have a more recent addition with Professor Moriarty. He’s got a love for the Sherlock Holmes novels and he’s a bit of an evil genius, mad scientist type. I totally adore that he picked a villain codename for himself. He keeps me on my toes, that’s for sure. Also, he makes me laugh and he thinks I’m pretty. *happy sigh* Okay, I’ll stop with the tween crush gushing.

So, those are the guys. Welcome to the insane asylum that is my blog.

Also…don’t worry about the heterosexual life partnership. M will be here tomorrow to see me. Even with the Geek Squad at her house, I still get visitation rights. Stay tuned for more details on that…

This was the couch. See how it’s all bold and awesome and red? Loved. It.

And I picked the upholstery for the chair to go with it. See how nicely they coordinate? Woot!

Then, the sales lady says the couch style I want is no longer available. I was way not-happy, but the search continued for quite some time until we found something that could work and be delivered in time for the Mad Madam M to sleep on it when she visits in a couple weeks.

Here’s the final winner in the Great Sofa Smackdown. Beige, which is meh, but neutral isn’t such a bad thing. I guess. On the plus side? It’s so freaking comfy I wanted to sit on it forever. And I will, apparently, because it’s mine now.

Then I went all Goldilocks on the chair.

This one was too hard (despite its cushy appearance).

This one’s arms were too high, the seat was too long, and I felt like a little kid in grandpa’s chair when I sat in it.

This one was just right. Comfy, good arm height, not too long for my legs. Perfect. Except that fabric is atrocious.

Luckily, the original fabric I chose with the red couch was available for that chair design, and since the neutral beige couch meant I could get any chair color I wanted…well…sold!

Ah, bliss.

I’m also working steadily on deadlines for my new books. I sent out some new novellas to Samhain, so there should be more details about that coming soon. And, the biggest news I have this week is that I changed agents and have signed with Roberta Brown of Brown Literary Agency.

That’s about it. School’s out for summer at the university, so the library is quiet and unexciting.

Let’s see…I plateaued hardcore for a few months there, which was depressing as all get out, but in the last month or so I’ve started losing again. Which was funny, because in the last month I’ve been traveling and at conferences, which means I wasn’t eating as well or working out as often as I do at home. For whatever reason, that kicked my system back into the, “oh, yeah…we’re downsizing right now.”

In any case, back home and back on the working out bandwagon, which means I’m dropping. Woot. I’m currently 3 pounds from a weight that I never thought I’d see again. So far to go for the final goal, but still. This is a biggie. Maybe I’ll make it by the end of the month! Wish me luck!
