Just What The Bones Ordered…
Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

So, I hate to hop on the same old, same old bandwagon, but the new Star Trek movie?

Made. Of. Awesome.

Smothered in the awesome sauce.

With real whipped cream an awesome cherry on top.

I love Star Trek. Not in a costume-wearing, midnight showing opening day kind of way, but I love it, so I feel pretty qualified in saying that it was really freaking good. They did a good homage to the original without slavishly following it. They made it their own. It was just…a good movie, even without being a Star Trek movie. The fact that it was a Star Trek movie just added a little bit more awesome to it.

But that’s really not the point of my post. I actually wanted to talk about writing. Well, my writing to be specific. You see, my next book has and alien race and space ships in it (and shifters, naturally. And dirty sex, but who’s counting?). The point is, I needed a good, new space movie. It inspired me. I’ve watched the space movies I have to get into the vibe of things, but there’s something about seeing it on the big screen. The size, the magnitude, the way your chair shakes a little when the volume gets loud. It overwhelms you and yanks you right into their world for a couple of hours.

Which, it turns out, is exactly what I needed for a little boost for this book (which is nothing like Star Trek except it has space ships…that look nothing like Trek ships, but they’re still space-faring vessels).

Just what the Bones ordered. And Karl Urban did a great job of him!

On The Prowl Signed!
Friday, May 15th, 2009

I went to another bookstore and found my books! I signed them. It’s always so exciting. I’m such a dork when I go up to the workers and say, “Um, hi. You have a book I wrote and I was wondering if it was okay to sign in. Um, I’m the author. It’s my book. Yeah.” Because, you know, I’m just that cool when I talk to people. I’m mostly just lucky that a) they believe me, and b) they don’t kick me out for being a psych patient on the loose.

They even gave me a card and told me to set up a signing. Scaaaary!

Retail Therapy
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

I spent the day wrestling with my insurance company to get everything transferred over to California from Utah (DMV is on Thursday–that wounded-animal whimper you’re hearing is me), and I emerged triumphant! For my pain and suffering, I had to go and buy some new books. Some women like shoes, some like handbags, some want the bling. Me? Books. Lots and lots of book. What? I didn’t become a writer because I hated them, now did I?

I signed a couple of On The Prowls and Carnal Desires, so if you’re at the Pruneyard Barnes & Noble in San Jose, autographed books await you!

However, on to the goodies I bought for myself. I even grabbed a few pictures. Yes, I’m the Casper the Friendly Ghost type chick. Writing is an indoor sport!

First, I hit the Young Adult section (you know, after I scoured the romance area, of course) and picked up Vamped by the awesome agently one, Lucienne Diver.

See? I totally bought it. Hmm…now how do I get her to sign it when I’m west coast and she’s east coast? Must contemplate. P.S. If you don’t read her blog, you really should. I think she’d doing a special week on historicals right now!

Then I moved on to the Science Fiction/Fantasy section (because I’m a nerd and that’s just how I roll) and went all squee fangirl over Diana Pharaoh Francis’s swath of shelving.

And after I divested them of some of their stock, there was magically room to face her books out.

Oh, yes, that book was mine. That one right there. I’m pointing to it. Mine, mine, MINE!

Though I have no idea what my head is doing in that shot. Or why my lips disappeared when I smiled. Ah, well! The good news is, Di’s got the first in an urban fantasy series called the Horngate Witches releasing this fall.

I. Can’t. Freaking. Wait.

What? You didn’t think the fluttery fangirling went away once you were published, did you? Silly rabbits!

On The Prowl is Out!
Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

It’s been shipping from some places for a couple of weeks now, but today is the official release date for On The Prowl! I’m so excited! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Meet the Cruz brothers. They look human—except for the golden sheen their eyes take when they’re aroused beyond control…and the way their claws come out when it’s time to play rough. They’re Panthers, ancient shapeshifters, and their survival depends on mating to bring out their wild sides…

Undeniable

When Antonio, the strong, sexy new leader of the Panther pride, meets luscious Solana in a dark alleyway, their passion lights up the night. But she’s an outcast, an impossible mate—and her touch makes him lose all control…

Irresistible

Ex-model and businesswoman Andrea doesn’t need anyone—until she meets Miguel, who tempts her mind with daring games and teases her body with dark, forbidden pleasure she can’t resist…

Indescribable

Wild twins Ricardo and Diego do everything together—and their women appreciate the teamwork. Until shy Isabel takes refuge in their pride, and both want to claim her. Of course, sometimes two mates are better than one…
