The official blurb for my novella “Taken Between” is really short, so here’s my unofficial (but more descriptive) one:

Max Delacourt is many things–a Between, a red wolf, a former soldier, an expert in security, and a prince. His older brother Elan has been scrambling to preserve the simple human rights of their people ever since. No one would ensure Elan’s safety like Max would, so he left the military without a backward glance.

There’s nothing about his brother that Max envies, except the love of Kira Seaton. Like Max, Kira left her position with the Los Angeles Police Department to join the King’s Guard as second in command. She’s known both brothers since they were children on the Between island kingdom of San Amaro. Then, she’d been a servant’s daughter with a burning desire to prove herself. She’d been determined to keep up with both the older boys no matter what.

Years with the LAPD gave her a place where her natural curiosity and tenacity as a fox-shifter was valued, but it was never where she belonged. The new skill I’ve mastered since my last post is making hats. I even made one last night for a friend who’s about to have a baby. She love, love, loved it. Unfortunately, my head is too big to model it, and her munchkin isn’t born yet. So, no picture, but it came out really cute, if I do say so myself.

First up is a hat/neck warmer combo I made for my best friend, complete with matching buttons. I think it turned out pretty well.

Next is a rolled brim hat and matching neck warmer with a big coconut wood button. This one is going to an organization I donate to that provides hats for cancer patients. I don’t think they’ll mind that it comes with a scarf, do you? The weather’s turning chilly, after all.

Then I did a little jaunt into making full-length scarves to go with a chunkier yarn hat. I also made a long scarf for the professor in a lovely shade of blue and normal sized yarn, but he stole it and took it home with him before I snapped a pic. Hey, he was sick and it made him feel better. How could I deny him?

And here’s a pink-and-purple chunky hat and neck warmer combo. This one came out really well, I thought. You can be envious all you want, but it’s also going to my best friend.
